Returning to Campus

We are excited to notify you about our plans to bring all students back to campus. It is your choice on whether you want your student to be learning on campus, but we strongly believe this will be a much better experience for your child – academically, emotionally, and socially.
Our decision to reopen is based on:

  1. Widespread acknowledgement that the school closure has hurt students
  2. The county having moved from the purple tier into the red tier.
  3. Our teachers having had the opportunity to get vaccinated.
  4. Our ability to have kept the campus safe with small groups of students attending

These are the important dates:

  • 6th graders can come back Monday, March 29
  • 7th graders (and the English Learners with Ms. Alvarez) can return Monday, April 19, after spring break
  • 8th graders are encouraged to return Monday, April 26

Whether on campus or at home, the school day will continue to be 8 am to 2 pm this school year. The teachers will transmit to students at home via the Zoom sessions, utilizing OWL cameras and mics.

Students on campus will be allowed to stay until 3 pm for various activities, including sports, dance, gardening, etc.

We have room for some students to stay until 3:45 pm if that is needed for your work schedule.

There will be MANDATORY meetings for all parents returning their students to campus at which time you’ll be asked to sign forms that:

  1. acknowledge your part in keeping our campus safe,
  2. provide emergency contacts, and
  3. state how late your child will be staying at school – till 2, 3, or 3:45 pm.

Please see the meeting information below.

ALSO: Students who have borrowed Sunrise computers and chargers must return these on the first day they come back to campus. We will clean and update them and return them to the classrooms. We will have new loaners to give out to students who need them for their homework soon after we return.

Please keep in mind students cannot arrive before 7:45 am when they return and they must go immediately to their first-period classroom for safety reasons.

Thank you for your support in this challenging year. We are so excited to have your children back at school!
