At Sunrise Middle School, we recognize that every student learns, communicates, thinks, and experiences the world differently. Neurodivergent students may include students with autism, ADHD, dyslexia and other learning differences, as well as students who experience differences in communication, attention, sensory processing, or executive functioning. We believe these differences are part of the diversity of our school community, and we are committed to helping every student feel welcomed, understood, and supported.
Sunrise works to provide an inclusive learning environment where students’ individual strengths and needs are recognized. Supports may include classroom accommodations, academic intervention, social-emotional support, counseling, behavioral support, special education services, and other individualized assistance when appropriate. We encourage students and families to communicate with us when a student is struggling or when they believe additional support may be helpful.
Families who have questions or concerns about their child’s learning, attention, behavior, communication, social-emotional development, or other needs are encouraged to contact the Sunrise Middle School office. We can help families understand the supports available at school, discuss the process for requesting an evaluation when appropriate, and connect families with additional school, county, state, and community resources.
Our goal is for every Sunrise student—including our neurodivergent students—to know that they belong here, that their strengths are valued, and that they have adults who will work with them and their families to help them succeed.
